A Timeline for Ordering Wedding Stationery: What to Do and When
Planning your wedding stationery can feel like a puzzle—but with the right timeline, it becomes a smooth, stress-free part of your wedding journey. Here's when to order your invitations, save the dates, and day-of paper to keep everything on track.
9–12 Months Before Your Wedding: Book Your Stationer
This is the perfect time to book your stationery designer—especially if you’re going the custom route. Booking early secures your spot and allows plenty of time for design, revisions, printing, and delivery.
If you're planning a destination wedding or getting married during peak season, consider reaching out even earlier.
6–8 Months: Order Save the Dates
Your save the dates are the first official communication to your guests. They should go out 6–8 months in advance—or 9–12 months for destination weddings or holiday weekends.
4–6 Months: Finalize Your Invitation Suite
Now's the time to approve your invitation design and start production. This window allows for luxury print methods like letterpress, foil, or embossing, as well as custom embellishments like wax seals and vellum wraps.
2–3 Months: Mail Your Invitations
We recommend mailing invitations 8–10 weeks before your wedding. For destination weddings, allow 12+ weeks. Be sure to account for proofing and print time when planning your mailing date.
Our team will help you stay on schedule every step of the way.
1–2 Months: Design Day-of Details
Menus, programs, signage, escort cards—these are the finishing touches that bring your paper story full circle. Design them after your RSVPs come in so guest names, meal selections, and seating are accurate.
